2005 Tait "The Ball Buster" Barossa Shiraz

I'm only going to say this once: 92pt (RP) Barossa Shiraz, $16. Get thee to Seattle Wine Co. and buy some.

A very earthy wine, everything I expect from a Barossa Shiraz. Great by itself or with food
(beef, lamb, etc). If you want to have something good to drink that's affordable, this is it. Don't think, just buy The Ball Buster.

Hi Jeff ... I'm trying it now and here's my opinion ...

I love a bold, brass shiraz but this was a little too dramatic to buy again. Pretty deep purple color, politely agressive nose of blueberries, blackberries, casis, tangled wood, and spice, especially cloves. Also, hot on the nose - reaffirmed on the palate. Spice hits first, followed by a burst of fresh black fruit. Acid seems medium-high, and while well balanced to a point, is ultimately just too big and alcholic. For the under $20 price fairly nice, and on that point 80

OK first off you Americans have it way too good on the wine front. This bottle is $36.99 here Which is over $30 US. Ouch.

I am not typically a Shiraz drinker, but this wine was big and bold enough to get by the jam that turns me off most Shiraz. I agree this pairs well with food (A nice steak) but you could enjoy this on it's own. If you like the all fruit of most Shiraz, you won't like this, but if you like a mouthful of challenge this is a great wine.
